I have not used these yet in the cold, this is more for fit and quality. These seem to be a quality boot. The size is true to shoe size (which I bought) but that is with normal socks. From what I have read they loosen up over time so whether you go with a size up is up to you. I will try to update after getting some use. The straps and buckles do not seem to do much as the boot calf is stiff, ie, they don not make the calf tighter. Again, maybe after break in that will not be the case. I will say they stay on my foot, dont slip. I had bought another pair of boots with higher thermal but I could not get my Stryker bibs over the top of them. They were huge. These fit perfectly under my bibs. I am replacing an older Sorrel boot with felt liner. The liner on these look looks high tech compared to the old felts. I will update after some use . Hopefully we get some ice this year!!!
